Maria Olaussen is Professor of English at Linnaeus University and a member of a research group on Concurrences in Colonial and Postcolonial Spaces. This multi-project seeks to expand the understanding of conflicting and simultaneous claims regarding culture and history. Influenced by the postcolonial concern with recovering the voice and agency of the subaltern, the principal purpose of the project is to investigate various cultural archives in order to map multiple and concurring claims of reality, experience and meaning in time and place. Maria Olaussen’s project deals with literature of the Indian Ocean. She has published on Southern African literature, postcolonial literary theory and gender studies.
