As professor of atomic- and molecular physics Carl Nordling (1931-2016) was for many years involved in teaching and research at Uppsala University. He worked with research in the fields of electron-, soft X-ray-, and beam-laser spectroscopy.From 1987 to 1993 Carl Nordling was Secretary General of the Swedish Natural Science Research Council. He was a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and has been chairman of its Nobel Committee for Physics.
